It was Eddie Paskey (http://www.eddiepaskey.com/Mr_leslie_facts.htm), aka Mr. Leslie/Lt. Leslie. And I only knew this because I heard him on NPR's "Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me."

As far as the book goes, I think you should find a Trek newbie to bestow that upon to improve their general knowledge and well-being. Because after my recent spate of Babylon 5 books, I think that if another Sci-Fi book shows up my wife will pay 400 quatloons to a newcomer for my head on a platter. ;-)
