Bozo will be saying goodbye in about 2 hours.
His bloodwork came back. His kidneys are doing much better, so that's not what has made him stop eating. Rather, it's now believed to be the mass in his intestinal tract which has shut down his appetite. Surgery is not indicated because the kidneys haven't improved enough. Steroids and palliatives would be either extremely short-term or extremely invasive.
So here we are.
Rather than it be a crisis situation where he suddenly couldn't breathe after the tumor metastisized, we have chosen to say goodbye now. On a sunny day in August where we've spent the afternoon with him in the garden. While he still has some shape and some purr and even enough spunk to go under a fence one last time.
There are many last-day pictures which will make their way here eventually. I have older ones, digitized, which I shall try to find as a tribute to the boy as well.
