We did some more homework today about switching our medical insurance back into COBRA after finding out about the stimulus bill's inclusion of a substantial subsidy for such. Eleanor's former employers at Ass-ley were generally a bunch of scumwaffles, but their HR people were, and again proved to be, a decent bunch of souls. One of them called me today to apologize for not getting back about the coverage, which I'd only left a message about last Friday. She followed up with a personal letter to Eleanor and an extensive fax covering most of our options. It basically narrowed down to two- a return to the Independent Health plan we'd been on, and a similar offering from the local Blue Cross outfit known as "Community Blue."
After I'd been out on rounds for a bit and Eleanor had been reviewing the info (on her first day off in over a week), I chanced to ask what the different options looked like in terms of cost. Only I referred to the latter plan, ever so unfortunately, as "the Community Blue job."
Awkward pause. Then, pretty unrestrained laughter, followed by the inevitable riffing on it:
She: "At Community Blue, we're determined to service you!"
Me: "If we do not receive your payment by the 15th of the month, a $25.00 fellate charge will be added."
I'm sure your sick and twisted minds can, um, come up with more.
