Weddings and clonings
Jun. 6th, 2013 09:38 pmWe've resumed our Robert Altman Film Festival this week with a Netflixing of A Wedding, his 1978 piece on the nuptials of Dino and Muffin. James Cromwell's father officiates (and neither achieves warp speed nor says "that'll do, bride); Pam(ela) Dawber and Dennis Franz make their screen debuts; and the rest of the ensemble from Desi Arnaz, Jr. to Carol Burnett shine in largely improvised roles.
Earlier this week, we watched the season finale of Orphan Black. More intrigue, more questions than answers, and a decent but non-annoying cliffhanger at the end:
( Cut because, yo, cliffhanger.... )
----
Ending with upcoming live music in these parts. Sara Bareilles is opening her 2013 tour in Buffalo, and not at the vertigo-inducing arena or the Canisius College gym (where she played last time she was here), but at the Botanical Gardens. This might work.
As will a mid-July gig in Rochester with Great Big Sea and Carbon Leaf. Em and Cameron asked for tickets to that one, and they were so reasonable, I ordered a few extras. Details are here if you're similarly inclined.
Just don't stick any frogs in your military uniform. General Taylor wouldn't be pleased by the distraction;)
