The Sheriff Wore Handcuffs. And the Emperor Has (or at least had) No Clothes.

According to today's New York Times, Eliot Spitzer has admitted that he was, indeed, a "fucking steamroller."

The fucking, in this case, refers to a $5,500-an-hour international ring of prostitutes known as the Emperor's Club.

And no, this is not some 20-year-old dirt dug up on the guy by Joe Bruno operatives: his last apparent visit to one of The Girls was on February 13, 2008.

Despite earlier published reports, dude has not resigned. Yet.

Well. THIS will give us something to talk about until the Pennsylvania primary.

Interesting spins on this at the national level. Hillary looked like someone just peed on her pantsuit and offered a weak "No comment" with some "best wishes" for some unspecified member(s) of the Spitzer family. I'd frankly be more interested in what Bill has to say about the whole business, but he's probably off to spend the next six weeks in Dick Cheney's secure bunker before he can open his fat mouth (or anything else).

Not satisfied with that sound bite, FOX News proceeded to identify Obama as "D-NY" in reporting his turndown of the second spot on the ticket. Leave it to them to find some way to connect HIM to this scandal.

Hillary offering second-banana placement to the candidate with a lead over her? This makes perfect sense in the upside-down world of New York Democratic politics. Over the weekend, the state chapter of NOW issued a press release saying, in essence, We don't care if Obama wins the actual primary vote, superdelegates should vote for Hillary. They even threatened to cast November votes for McCain, or to write in Hillary's name anyway, if they don't get their way.

In getting to that part of their website, though, I found some other content that they might want to consider taking down right about now:
