The office party Friday night was fun. No lawyers were harmed during the production of the axes.  I even helped bring the red team to a victory in, um,  I forget which throwing game. However, I did make connections of a different kind concerning my earlier sudden and unexplained injury: I chose it as the theme of my gaming name for the night, and I also discovered another option for how it had happened:

Perhaps I've been assimilated by the Borg.

We then ate and exchanged the silly gifts. I was too early in the stealing queue to come home with this one:

Just as well, I'd have hated to get it home and find that was ranch dressing white chocolate.

I passed on the second round of games after we ate and exchanged- bumper cars with a two-time car crash driver didn't seem like a good plan- so I just headed home at that point. Not, though, before realizing that for the second year in a row, I'd left my coat behind. I get the why of it; after working up a sweat throwing an axe for an hour, you don't feel the need to bundle up- but this time I specifically DIDN'T bring it into Lasertron for that very reason. No, I'd managed to leave it behind at the office, which I couldn't retrieve it from because I still don't have my new keys to that place.  Those, at least, I didn't lose or forget; it was Eleanor who quite purposely pitched them from her key ring because she thought they were duds that didn't open our house doors anymore.  I go back early this week to finish up the stray pieces of the case with the Big Bad Lawyer (Fee), and that will end both of those losses once and for all.

----

But enough about losses. We spent a good portion of yesterday dealing with a find.

We put our Have-a-Heart trap out again, but not for one of ours.  (Bronzini has shown no interest in the great outdoors after living in it for two weeks in April.)  Two different neighbors contacted us in the past few days because they saw another black kitty wandering around their driveways.  The one who came to the door today said the little guy looked VERY thin and walked right up to her looking for noms. She put out some food for him, which he devoured. Ann also had a trap, but she didn't need it. Next time he showed up, he came right up to her and he's now in her garage (she has other kitties who live inside).

I came home after writing group yesterday to find our trap was back inside and Ann had put up FOUND signs for him on the streetsign poles.  She even took him to her kitties' vet to see if he was chipped (nope). He is fixed, and he does not have the ear marking used for trap-neuter-release ferals, so the little guy is SOMEBODY'S. I've posted these pictures to the local Nextdoor site and the Facebook one we used when B-Man got out, in hopes we'll help find him home.

He's gorgeous. Our first-ever girlkitty was black with white bikini markings like his. But no, before you even, um, axe me: the three we've got, plus the dog, are plenty of a pawful for us right now. It's not the expense, although upping the ONE HAIRBALL bill by 25 percent wouldn't be fun. Even the more sedentary felines require daily shleps for catbox duty, food wrangling and fight refereeing. Plus we don't play with the guys we've got as much as we should; and adding a fourth, stressed, heart to the mix just wouldn't be fair to him or the others here.

Maybe the Borg can take him.  He is pretty hard to resist, after all.

I just noticed how much the gimcrack over 7of9's eye looks like something from Alien...
