Just Another Day Ending in a Y....
Apr. 21st, 2020 08:26 pmReally. I found myself utterly confused sometime this afternoon about whether this was Tuesday or Wednesday. Another day with noplace to go, professionally or socially. I spent more of it in the office than on many days of late, with a detour to Office Whatever to replace home printer ink (yellow- not that I need it but the damn thing won't work if any of the four cartridges are spent) and a couple of provision runs. It hasn't helped that spring has largely decided to social-distance itself from us, with another several days of below-normal cold and, right at that ink run, a genuine downpour of snow and/or hail.
At least the weekend was a little better. Saturday, this frolicking flock greeted me as I was driving down Harlem Road, the major state highway that leads to my office:

That's not a rare sighting, as we often get them in our yard- or at least did back when the birdfeeder was out (our yard is now Not So Much Rat, so we might restock it)- but Saturday noon on a usually traveled highway is not normal.
Was not normal. Gotta get used to that.
Sunday morning, our dog posse picked a park we'd not been to before, north of here. It's at the butt north end of a semi-major highway known as Sweet Home Road; I'd lived off it one semester in law school, in a rather bizarre local subdivision literally known as "Looney Acres," but until Sunday I'd never been to the end of the road. Just east of the end of Sweet Home are two places: a trail along the Erie Canal, and a town park known simply as Nature View.
We parked by the canal path, and for the second time this month, the Three Amigos were reunited:

(No, Ursula, Mommy's not in the canal; there's one more step there.) After exploring a bit along the canal itself, we crossed the street to the actual Parp!, named sensibly if not all that originally:

(I did some quick math and realized the author would've been just a few years older than Emily. My Lawyer Sense also went off and, sure enough, Grace is now around 30, married, and practicing law at a firm specializing in non-profits in Philadelphia. I sent her a copy of the photo and told her the sign and park are still doing well; she wrote back quite appreciatively:)
As for the Nature Views themselves, well,....

Moss, or something else you can lichen to it....
And then the threesome again, Jake's mom doing her best Ta-daaaa!

Ursula's mom: How do you drink that coffee with a mask on?
Me: Bluetooth.
And then, some altogether NOT natural things. One of our posse spotted this wreck right off the path:

And this, on what was left of one of its bumpers:

That ain't the only thing that's contagious now, bro.
Sunday ended with cleaning, finishing a movie, and, outside, this:

Good to know that not everything is shut down:)
----
We still have our local idocies over what is a good idea to shut down. Behold, the face of the groundswell of protest against prudent medical advice; on the left is the usual face of the "Loser Boy" meme, with our own failed 2014 gubernatorial candidate and 2017 defrocked Board of Education member Crazy Carl filling in the details:

Monday'sriot rally was just one of many around the nation in the past week or so by Tru Murkin Patriots who can't bear to go without their nail sets and fudge ripple:

Much of Red State America is falling in line, with Georgia leading the way reopening such social-distanced businesses as hair salons and tat parlors. Considering that Democrats are closing in if not leading Deplorable incumbents in many of these states, you've got to wonder why they're risking death sentences for their base?
Short answer: Go ahead. Make my November.
Yet still I worry, because look Who's apparently been infected:

See? WHO told the President* that this was bigger than it looked on the inside:P

The latest humor:

Me: Feckless virus in bottomless fart.

neonvincent: behold the Trikini:)

And, since Cheeto took some flak for implying that Nancy Pelosi was hanging around a Chinatown that was actually in China and not San Francisco where she lives, I begged forgiveness for the poor man. Many people make these mistakes!

Back to another day tomorrow. Blerpday, Kabingday, Widdershinsday, whateverday,....

Oh, that's hilarious. if I'd been drinking coffee when I saw it I would've spit it out (a problem Bluetoothing the stuff might actually solve!).
Monday's
riotrally was just one of many around the nation in the past week or so by Tru Murkin Patriots who can't bear to go without their nail sets and fudge ripple:That's what gets me: the other side a) literally politicizing a serious, oftentimes painful and/or expensive life-ending issue and b) calling the other other side "elitist" while crying how they can't have ice cream or their nails done.
Meanwhile the other other side just abides by what needs to be done, makes the required adjustments and has comparatively few complaints. Who sounds elitist now?

Date: 2020-04-23 08:12 am (UTC)1. "the damn thing won't work if any of the four cartridges are spent" variant on programmed obsolescence by Big Electronics
2. Loved the "nature park" sign. Clearly the kid had a logical mind (and yet ended up as a lawyer). Glad you followed up with her like that.
3. Beautiful sunset. Were you standing at least 6 feet away from it?
4. There was a beautiful clip about the protesters. In one picture, dude is a Survivalist / Prepper / Whatever they're calling themselves these day in his bunker, boasting about how long he can live in there. Next picture he's protesting about having to stay home and not being able to get a haircut. Probably 'shopped, but does make the point.
