Since reporting on our loss of hot water late yesterday, I have the following happy items to add:

* Tried to re-light pilot and failed.

* Witnessed Eleanor come home early from work, in excruciating pain after hurting her back during some work outside.

* Surrendered and called plumber, who was on holiday hours and wouldn't get back until this morning.

* Was generally distracted and grumpy until falling asleep at a relatively early hour.

* Got up past midnight, couldn't fall back to sleep for love or money, wrote an entry to post later, eventually fell back down.

* Fed animals, posted entry, got maybe 20 more minutes sleep, woke to alarm, discovered a defriending. Probably over the midnight entry, but who knows? (I'm sorry, whatever it was.)

* Sorta spongebathed before leaving for 8:30 appointment at office, but after plumber called to confirm service call "this morning." Humidity already enough to duplicate spongebath inside vehicle.

* Brought clients downtown, discovered all new construction around court building, equaling no place to park nearby, equaling longer walk in humid air to court.

* Had one case called ahead of us with not one but two interpreters, taking roughly three times as long.

* Returned to car, did not get parking ticket, because that would've been just too appropriate.

* Saw flashing overhead sign on outbound 33 from downtown, reading
AIR QUALITY ALERT TODAY
CAR POOL

* Marvel at the DOT thinking behind putting such a sign up in the outbound direction, as if people would be suddenly inspired to complete their journey, form a car pool, and then go back.

* Almost got speeding ticket on 290 less than a mile from home. (Some poor schnook either just ahead or just behind me did.)

* Water heater repair guy not yet on site.

* Still not king.

On the plus side, it's the middle of summer. I was taking ice-cold showers this weekend on purpose. :)

I understand that, but when I'm in excrutiating pain, I like a hot baff to make the spasms subside a bit. Oh well, the heating pad worked wonders, and the hot water is fixed. W00t!

It's at least an excellent day to take cold showers...
