Something old, something new....
Jun. 28th, 2010 08:31 pmThat is not a Big Bang spoiler, honest! (The Blogger always lies.)
The first part, anyway, refers to us finally getting round to the DVD recorded off of PBS, of what we labeled the disk as "Ham and Ten-let." I never got the first half hour or so of it (and thus the Netflix thereof is on the way), but we much enjoyed seeing Ten and Jean-Luc having at it. The "film" was not merely a shooting of a live Stratford performance, but a specifically crafted version for the camera, and Great Performances ended its presentation if it with a making-of short, featuring the director, DP and much of the cast, including both leads ("He's Scottish?," Eleanor asked about Ten- I decided not to reply, "From the north of Gallifrey, actually.")

The Something New is something that occurs but once a year, fortunately happening the first time some ::mumble:: years ago today. A dear Friend of ours came into the world, and has made it a kinder, lovelier and more fun place for all who meet and are touched by her. Many of you have come to know me through your friendship with her, or her through yours with me, and that's a good thing. She really needs our friendships, our laughs, and our love as much as ever right about now. If you've already added her to your circle of friends, be sure to pass along your wishes for her birthday. Otherwise, you'd have a hard time finding a Bettah Friend Evah than
bluesilverkdg, as both of us here have discovered. ::happyhugs to Kimmy::

There's some other Something, isn't there? Oh yeah. Something forgotten. It didn't even occur to me that Girlyman was playing next to the 716 yesterday, until they had been and were likely long gone. Ah well; it was really too beastly yesterday to sit out in a public park to see them. Come back, guys! We promise there'll be chairs!
