captainsblogThe kids are home. "The kids" include our youngest life, just back from the vet for her fixing and appointed with her Cone of Shame:
There's a bit of growling goin' on, but most of it in good fun, and I suspect Gwenny will be fully part of the Fam by the time they leave.
Keeping with my long-standing tradition, I did 90 percent of my Christmas shopping beginning only yesterday. I knew the Big Thing I wanted for Em and Cam- a bigger bed, preferably a futon, for their room rather than the too-small twin we'd put back in there after her college-apartment futon came and left last summer- but of course I put it all off until 4:00 yesterday afternoon. And scored the right size for the right price and had it stowed in the back of Eleanor's truck and in their room before Saturday sundown. Only then did I realize, duh- this thing's gonna need sheets- and after two trips to Bed Bath and BeAnnoying (Home of the World's Most Annoying Potpourri™), I'd secured a flannelly set that should actually fit the thing.
There were also trips for music, and video, and by this morning, plenty of happiness at once again having gotten away with a Past Last Minute run.

Today began at one gym, with my trainer's husband filling in for her, and ended at the sucky one for cardio, where at least someone has a sense of humor about the "amenities" in the place:
In between, I took in church, where I'll be again tomorrow for two of the five services running throughout the day. The early afternoon one will be as a participant, while the 8 p.m. one will be to just enjoy a Stillenacht concert with our choir and a bunch of BPO musicians.
In theory, I am off tomorrow, as is Eleanor. More likely, I will detour to the office after a final Wegmans run to see if some long-promised things actually show up. We're keeping all our actual Eve and Day family plans open to accommodate the kids and our own needs and lives. We are together, and that's the greatest gift of all:)
