Among other good things to come out of this train wreck of filk, I found your more up-to-date blog. I shall be reading more of that. So sing along, preferably with the Great Big Sea version in my head-
(or go with the more conventional REM if you must)-
and happy birthday, snowy_owlet!
It’s the end of the world, said the Mayans,
And I feel fine….
That's great, it starts with some birth pangs, labor shakes and water breaks
Your Mom’s OB was not afraid
Day of the solstice, listen to yourself born
Years go by fast, winding up in Texas
Make a life and making writing,
Feed a kitty, name it Jinxy,
No wicked in the stepchildren, fight down life.
Wire in the Internets, an Owlet and a Birch Grove and some poetry sites.
Lots to say and day job with the curers and machiners breathing down your neck.
Day by day go, rumors of and end- so!
Look at apocalypse! Fine then.
Uh oh, overflood, hurricanes and blizzards but it'll do.
Save it all, serve them all,
World serves its own needs, listen to your heart bleed.
Dummy with the rapture and the reverent in the right - right.
But still it’s your birthday at the last day’s first, bright light,
Feeling pretty psyched.
It's the end of the world- happy birthday!
It's the end of the world- happy birthday!
It's the end of the world, said the Mayans, and I feel fine.
I know there are more verses. But there are also more birthdays in the coming days. Be afraid, Capricorns....

Alan basically stalked the filmmakers, putting CDs of their music in the rooms of the inn they were staying in. "Oh Yeah" is also the theme song to a CBC police show called "Republic of Doyle" and Alan's appeared in the series.
