I heard Randi Rhodes talking about this tonight: MSNBC has sacked one of its anchors after he apparently dissed the Diva of Dix by including a soundbite of Keith along with similar "angry rants" by Beck, the Drugster and O'Falafel.  Although KO vehemently denies he was the cause of Donny Deutsch's dispatching, that's enough to confirm it in my book. Making it worse, the Morning Joe crew was essentially verboten from talking about it on their show, even shouting down the guest when she tried to read from a Washington Post op-ed about it:

I've known the dude since we were both in the booming Ithaca media of 1979. (Okay, he was a bit up the food chain then.) Like most of the VBR crowd, he and his mike were far too full of themselves for their own good. While I've mellowed enough to stand, and occasionally join, his rants in the years since his ascension through and out of sports, shit like this doesn't surprise me one little bit.

It's okay to be angry. Just don't pretend you aren't, kthnxbye?

We now return you to our far more pedestrian subjects.

Whatever you may think of Keith Olbermann, there is one thing he did for which he deserves our heartfelt gratitude: he introduced television audiences to Rachel Maddow.
