I modestly propose that Kenyan national Barack Obama just show up on April 19 at Appomattox courthouse in Virginia, bearing this Union's unconditional surrender and its nukulur codes, and hand the whole damn thing over to the Confederacy. We'll become part of Canada and will say, "Don't let the door hit ya where the Good Lord split ya."

A significant portion of Jesusland thinks that their namesake was Jest Kiddin' when He talked about loving your neighbor and helping the poor.

Despite his now spending more in Iraq and Afghanistan than his predecessor did, and despite his focusing billions on bailing out Wall Street and huge corporations rather than for Main Street and average Americans, the majority of "mainstream" America seems to think the current administration is Marxist, or Communist, or one of those "ist" things.

Finally, now comes word that the Republican governor of Virginia thought it was a just ducky idea to proclaim April of 2010, as in this month of this century, as "Confederate History Month," and choosing, in so doing, not to mention the issue of slavery as a factor in that recent unpleasantness, stating that he didn't think the issue was "significant." (He's since apologized, but so did the RNC, once its funding of lesbian-bonding events became pubic public knowledge.)

So fine, Bubba. You won. You get the red states- and everything that go with them. Poverty, intolerance, white rage.

We'll keep progressive thinking and hockey.

A southern man don't need us around, anyhow.

I'd be okay with awarding West Berlin-type status to the Greater Asheville area.

Oh man. I really dislike that attitude. Taken from my recent "spending too much time on the internet talking to stupid people pisses me off too much" entry, here is only one quote from one of those "real" christians:

"Social justice is code for marxism. The mainline churches have been infected with it. Glen Beck knows that to take by force of government from the producers to give it to the non-producers is immoral. To freely give to charities is the way to go. They are much more efficient with the delivery of services to the poor. And you get grateful recipients and not people who think they are entitled to the fruits of other people’s labor. Big government and entitlement programs are ruining our country. It’s a big redistribution of wealth from the middle class to the elite with the poor being the pawns and supposed reason for confiscatory taxation."

In other words, it's only moral to help those in need when they will thank you and make you feel good. If I'm going to give money to people they better repay me with overt shows of gratitude.

Also, everyone knows our country would be better off if the government just trusted everyone to give freely to charities and donate to the prohibitively expensive medical bills of people without insurance (but only the grateful ones!!). Charity would also work great for our fire and police departments, public schools, postal service, etc...
