From the news wire:

Easter Bunny roughed up outside NY sweets shop

State police Investigator George Mohl said the attacker has not been caught.

Fortunately, our crack staff has determined that a note claiming responsibility was found at the scene, signed by "The Real Easter Bunny"--

Hop hop.

What is this world coming to when people begin to attack the Easter Bunny? The only reason I would do that is mug her for chocolate.

That commerical makes me so very happy that I was too young to remember most of the 70's.

I can't tell which was more disturbing, the attack itself or the fact that it occurred in a town called "Fishkill." Really?

The "kill" suffix is a holdover from the New Netherlands days of our state's (mostly eastern-part) history; "kill" is Dutch for "creek." Heading north of Albany, there were plenty of other kills to be had, along with lots of V's and U's and -oorts I wasn't familiar with.

On the way home, though, I passed through Orange County and its somewhat scarily named town of "Beaver Kill," which always reminds me of the old joke told, supposedly, by June Cleaver the morning after some especially rough trade:

"Ward, I think you were a little hard on the Beaver last night...."
