It's a clear, gorgeous yet FECKIN COLD morning here on the edge of the Adirondacks. I got here in the very wee hours today after passing through and beyond to go to a book reading by, now, two friends of mine and their shared press agent:
Since he's a better (and more awake) writer than I am, I'll steal Jon's words to describe the events of the previous evening. (Jon did get me in that picture: I'm under EAT SLEEP READ and that one other standing person.) Both he and his daughter told stories I had heard before, and some even more amazing ones that I hadn't (and probably can't retell here without permissions), but suffice it, they are two fine people who love each other- and their words, and their experiences, and especially their animals, if the love on the face and the tail of Pearl was any indication.

There've been some minor snafus in the logistics department, but they've either been attended to or will before I begin the next leg of the trip. Both of my nieces are in Connecticut, and I'll be joining them later today and celebrating with this guy tomorrow:
Even though it's a Lutheran baptism tomorrow, clearly we aren't going to have any major religion problems in this family;)
