From the Politico report revealing that a member of our local Congressional delegation- married, with two kids, and, yes, a Democrat this time- announced his resignation on account of ethics charges of sexually harassing a male colleague in his office wanting to spend more time with his family. The quote comes from House Democratic Majority Leader Steny Hoyer¹:

Hoyer said news of the sexual harassment allegation — coming on the same day Rep. Charles Rangel (D-N.Y.) gave up his gavel on the Ways and Means Committee² — shouldn’t give Republicans a leg up in November.

Well, it had been Larry Craig, HE might have had a leg up. Two, even.

My new motto, considering this news and the recent records of Spitzer, Paterson and his top aide³, and who knows how many other legislators of either or any party:

SPAY AND NEUTER YOUR LEGISLATORS!

² Plainly an editing error: the official title, from every other Rangel article I've read this week, is "The Powerful Ways and Means Committee." Preferably uttered whilst genuflecting in the general direction of Charlie's campaign contribution stash.

³ Forget the impropriety of the Guv asking for free tickets to a Yankee World Series game. He should be impeached simply for wanting to GO to a Yankee World Series game.
