* A friend of mine since the mid-70s just had her latest book published. One of the sites promoting it runs ads next to the reviews. Of all the books on all the shelves in all the bookstores in this town, what winds up in an ad next to Clea's novel but the truly beautiful work I raved about a couple of years back?

You should read his. And hers. It'll make ours (world, that is) a better place on account of doing both.

I then had another encounter with Another Dimension as I began my day today, which for all its unproductivity was far improved over either of the first two days of the week. As I headed home last night, on a road I travel probably 20 times a week easy, I was unusually stuck behind one car making one left turn into one driveway. I remembered it from a case I worked on a few years back; it had been the local manse of a fairly notable (look! Wikipedia entry and everything!) local lawyer, who sold it back in 2003 to a couple that, years after that, wound up in litigation with a client of mine.

That client wound up resolving that particular issue, and I hadn't heard from my contact there in ages, so I made a mental note to get in touch with him sometime this week. No need, though: he emailed me, completely unsolicited, first thing this morning.

Doo de doo doo, doo de doo doo.

I'd best be going. The 8:53 leaves Centerville in just over five minutes.

ETA. I deleted the link to the local lawyah's Wiki entry. It probably has more NSFW content in it than the one for his former client Larry Flynt, and that's saying something.
