Not yet, anyway.

All those other senseless murderers share one thing in common: Beautiful Downtown (or at least suburban) Buffalo.

So when I got home from a thoroughly rotten day (other than seeing off a dear friend of ours who's moving to Milwaukee tomorrow if I can get through their closing without any problems), and I saw the BREAKING NEWS about a man with a shotgun being captured on security cameras going into UB's main library (Lockwood, for those who know the turf), my reaction was much like the bowl of petunias in HHGTG:

Oh no, not again.

Fortunately, at least as of this writing, the building got evacuated and dude hasn't wreaked any havoc. He is, however, still at large. One can only hope it was a Classics Department costume party or something.

Now to check the comments for the inevitable If our fascist government allowed students and professors to pack heat, shit like this would never happen reaction.

Yeah, that's all that campus needs to bring about some school spirit to its lifeless econobox body: shootouts.

we never had costume parties, sadly. I'm just happy that there were no casualties!

Scary. But thanks so much for the H2G2 reference! It made my morning!

I'm not for guns on a school campus. Military bases, however...all soldiers should have a side-arm. It still ruffles my feathers that a civilian cop had to bring down the Ft. Hood shooter.
