captainsblogWhen I got home at stupid o'clock last night, after nearly breaking up a fistfight in a client's place of business, I saw that our dinner menu had changed.
The semolina grain, which Eleanor had planned on molding into one loaf of homemade bread and one pizza crust, had instead morphed into two loaves of bread. Sort of.
The first loaf came out weird-looking, she thought. (I didn't, in the blinding light of hindsight.) So she sacrificed the za to try again. The second loaf came out even weirder-looking. (I concur in this opinion.)
There's no polite way to describe it. One end of it looked like the biggest darned scrotum you're ever likely to see. All of us reached this conclusion independently.
Last night's dinner (pasta in red sauce, basically the pizza without the crust) was accompanied by the first loaf. Tonight, though, Emily broke into the second. She's cooking for us and the BF tomorrow night, and thus the following conversation ensued:
Mom: There's parantha (Indian flatbread) in the freezer that you can serve tomorrow night, in case the, um, other loaf isn't appropriate.
Em: I wouldn't worry. It's kinda hard to tell now.
Me: Oh, I'll know. It's gonna look like a bris gone horribly wrong.

The icon is both to fit the header of this post and to commemorate yet another Jeopardy! appearance tonight of Someone I Know. One of the longtime peeps from AOL trivia- something like the 10th person I've known over the years (mostly from there) who's had their 22 minutes of fame with Alex. I've passed the test and yet never get called back. Maybe a bag over my head would do the trick:P
