* To all of you here and elsewhere who've sent kind words, comments and various manifestations of The Force to get us through this. Eleanor's doing much better today, we've changed the dressings for the first time without too much ickiness, it's a brilliantly sunshiny day out, and the tree is taking shape as we speak.

* Special thanks, which should have been given last night, to our neighbor Sally. Idiot Husband sailed away last night without any of our cell phones, so I called our neighbor from the Doc-in-a-Box to ask if she could pick one up from the house and bring it on what was then a short trip down the street. By the time we were referred to ECMC, she hadn't made it, so I just checked my cupholder for a shitload of dimes quarters so we could phone home if needed. As soon as we checked in at the ER, they told us that Urgent Care had called- to tell us the phone was on the way. Sally shlepped all the way down there to bring it to us. Good friends are worth all the silver and gold in the world. Thanks again, hon.

* To just about everybody in retail I've dealt with this holiday season. Either in spite of the tough times, or maybe a little because of them, everyone I've run into- from the late-night pharmacy assistant at the 24-hour Rite Aid last night to everyone at Wegmans- has been gracious and helpful in all our dealings.

* To the Amherst Library, for finally getting me a copy of Joe Queenan's latest book, which I reserved about 100 years ago, yet which arrives in perfect time for me to be spending a bit more time around the house.

* To the Sabres, who provided much-needed entertainment as I was driving about in the wee hours last night, beating the Black Hawks despite our backup goalie being in net and despite hometown antihero Patrick "20 Cent" Kane scoring the only Chicago goal.

* Ah, but the one holdout from the cheer? Post-finale Dexter Morgan, that's who:

That hair is way creepier than anything Dexter Morgan has ever done. *shudders*

I'm very glad E's doing better today.

Ok, I'm still reading to find out WTF happened! Very glad that you had people looking out for you, though.

I've not done a lot of retail, as of yet, but so far, so nice.

WHAT happened to Dexter's hair? He looks like a young Matt Damon!!
