We're back from Ang Lee's latest, Life of Pi. I knew nothing about it prior to leaving other than having seen the title a few times and hearing, on some NPRish thing today, that there was a tiger in it.

Was there ever.

Eleanor didn't last much more than an hour, and I took her home. The shipwreck scenes- with the title character, said tiger, one even more aggressive hyena and two almost helpless other animals- were as intense and violent as anything I've seen in a film in a long time.

And they got a PG for this?

Emily's still sticking it out at the theatre, where I have to go to collect her shortly. I probably could have made it through it, too, but Eleanor has always had too tender a heart for such visceral showings of pain, maybe more so when four-legged victims are involved.

----

It's a more peaceable kingdom here at home, but not without a little hissing.

Em, Cam and the kitten got here earlier than expected- the Lyell Wegmans let him leave early today- and I got home just as they were still unloading the car and after they'd made the dog-cat introductions all around.

As expected, in the dog-cat department, Ebony wants to slobber on and play with Gwenny, who is having none of it. Tasha seems oblivious.  Among the resident cat population, Tazzer seems out of sorts about the new arrival and has hissed back at her a few times, Michelle is being her usual not-impressed self, and Zoey seems undecided about the whole business.  For her part, Gwenny is largely cowering around everybody and expressing unpleasantness at anyone who comes close.  She did perk up when fed at her usual time, though, and I suspect everyone will be on the same more-or-less page by the time they go back after the weekend.

----

In a bit over 12 hours, I should be done with the Trot and at the Convention Center with celebratory beverages.  I'm doing it with two friends who figure that an hour is a good pace- about the same as my last one, which had quite a bit of walkies in it, too.

Until after that, happy early turkeys to all- and I'm including the film in that:P
