I went out a few minutes ago to put some kitchen garbage in the outdoor tote before the dogs raided the wastebasket for it, and there was a pair of gorgeous stray dogs rattling around between our yard and the next. I thought one belonged to a neighbor, so I went right up to him, and he was as friendly as ever despite being one pretty big-ass boxer-looking guy. No idea who his companion was- best guess being a Dalmatian mix of some sort, grey but with the black spots in the coat. I tried herding them back to Sooner's house, but Sooner was already inside when I got there, so we're dealing with pooch or pooches unknown here.

By the time I got Emily into the herding party, and acquired leashes, they'd amscrayed into the wilds behind the houses which back up to the 290. (I don't think they can get through to there- concrete noise barriers keep it separated.) Despite a half dozen of us trying to catch them, they're still at large, as far as we know.

The grey guy did get as close to me, and was equally friendly- enough to check both for names or IDs. Both had collars, but neither had a tag.

People. Please. If you love your animals, make sure we can help you find their way home if they get out.

Poor pooches. Collars without tags have never made sense to me. What's the point, even if you have no identifying tags attached, either with name and address or rabies vaccination number. Hope they find their way home.

Aww man, I hope they get home. My cat is not allowed out except briefly on a leash to eat grass which he will then puke up. Still, he wears a collar with all of my phone numbers and my gmail address, because he got lost for 12 days once because he snuck out, and he has a heart condition now, and if he gets lost again he just won't last long out there. *shrug*

By the way, and this is totally OT, I just looked, on a whim, at your userpics, and I kept saying, "YES! THAT!" and "Oooh I wish I had that," and "Wow, we like the same things!" I still find it odd to meet people over the intartubes with whom I have a lot in common. But then, I'm an odd mix.
