Today is five years to the day that we said goodbye to Bozo, the second of our original pair and still very much a part of our daily conversation and memories. Whenever we need to blame someone for some absent-minded miscue, we recite a line Emily immortalized when she was about 2: "Maybe Bozo did it!"



That's him on the right, thick as thieves with his big sister who stayed with us a year or so longer.

I was aware of the anniversary when we decided to get Zoey, but I was also glad that we have today just to remember him. Nobody- two-legged or four- can substitute for anyone else, but they can fill holes in hearts in their own unique ways.

Love to you, and your best of friends, present and absent.

That's got to be from at least 10 years ago. They both look so happy together. He was Eleanor's favorite, but he plainly adored everyone in the house- dog, kitty and human alike.
