It's ba-a-a-a-a-ck!
Aug. 9th, 2009 10:37 pmAfter a week or so of relatively decent summer weather, the humidity and thunderboomers descended on us again today. It was so sticky this morning that the humidity set off the smoke alarm outside the bathroom, no fewer than three times, even with the door closed after Eleanor's pre-work morning shower.
Church was a soup kitchen, and a half-hour plus of cardio at the gym actually produced a lower Human Velcro Alert because the place is air-conditioned, but 20-odd minutes in, I noticed that their big-screen satellite televisions had all gone out. Sure enough, the first wave of t-storms had arrived.
By 4 or so, the sun was out, but the air was still stickier than a birther at a town hall meeting.
Now the second wave is passing through. I'm running on batteries until it's all over; unfortunately, that might not be until mid-October if the first few weeks of "summer" are any sign.
How long can YOU tread water?
And happy birthday Lisa, in case I don't get to say anything more substantial to either of you by that name tomorrow or Tuesday.

Date: 2009-08-10 10:57 pm (UTC)I've always enjoyed reading about the broad range of things that make you happy, almost all of them in a genuine way. It's good to have your observations, sounds and enthusiasm on my list. I know we'll probably never meet on the plane of this existence, but if someday you and my daughter wound up at the same con or concert or whatever, I'd be thrilled for her to meet you.
