i bring today a birthday wish
that simply must be spoken
it's to a friend most dear, although
her shift key must be broken

she never lets the upper case
disrupt her muse's senses
i guess she'd rank such pauses
among "capital offenses"

but love her all the same, we do
in this our happy home
where r (that's me) and e (my wife)
keep track of kristen's code

she loves her music and her art
and brings the sox good luck
we love them, too, unless the mets
are grounding to bill buck

she loves to read and loves to learn
for recipes she begs
and taunts us all with dreams of socks
(but those are not her legs)

this could go on for stanzas more
the ending lost and missin'
so i'll end here with wishes dear
to the loveliness of kristen:)
