On the QT for those formerly from the NT:
Jul. 30th, 2009 09:36 amA couple of years ago, a co-worker of Eleanor's gave her a restaurant recommendation for a fancy-dress occasion- I think her birthday, or maybe our anniversary. We had to check out this place on the Boulevard, just over the Niagara County line, called J.T. Wheatfield's. We went, and, meh- decent food, but nuthin' special. The ambience was something between a roided-out Perkins and a before-hours sports bar.
This morning, we learned why the staff wasn't paying quite as much attention to the food or the decor:
JT Wheatfield's, one of the most popular night spots in Niagara County, was searched by federal agents this morning during a roundup of drug-dealing suspects.
Its owner, Joseph Tomasino, was one of more than 20 people arrested this morning when agents and other police rounded up suspects in Niagara Falls, the Towawandas, Wheatfield, Grand Island and Amherst. Tomasino faces a felony charge of conspiracy to distribute cocaine.

I swear, on a per capita basis, this town attracts more fuckups, bleeps and blunderers than any place on the planet. You want em, we gottem: Abortion doctor murderers, Federal Building blower-uppers, (alleged) double murderers and (convicted) kidnappers, Al-Qaeda terrorist cells, and enough scandal in City Hall to bring down any other administration in the country (here, the idiot gets to run for re-election virtually unopposed).
We did invent chicken wings, though, so I guess there's that.
Oh, and didya see last week in the Times? That Dick Cheney wanted to send federal troops into Lackawanna to capture the terrorists. Apparently he thought Posse Comiatus was a new entree down at Mighty Taco. Pity he didn't talk his sock puppet into doing it; we would've qualified for billions in no-bid contracts to have Haliburton rebuild the whole region.
