A Doggie Door Moves, a Cat Door Opens....

Tasha's still Not Quite Right, but there's other stuff going on. The weather's been unseasonably warm today, the crew next door has been loud and annoying while they work on the chimney up top, and we've been in and out of the house quite a bit during the day. No further episodes, but we're trying to keep an eye on her and keep her comfortable when she seems out of it. Eleanor put a blanket down on the living room floor to help her get traction when getting up from a lying-down position- and Zoey, naturally, claimed the entire ten-times-bigger-than-her spot with a defiant "Mine!"

Meanwhile, 70 miles away, more things are happening.  Cameron got a transfer to the Wegmans across Lyell Avenue from their apartment complex, and he now walks to and from work. Last night, a cat followed them home- clearly, a Somebody's Cat. They did some quick checking and, in no time, the owner appeared to claim the kitty and gave them $40 for their trouble....

whereupon, just like that, another one, this one smaller and needier, marched right in as the first one got carried out:

She (calicos are almost always she's) has been gentle, affectionate and hungry. They both had busy days today, so their investigation was pretty limited, but between tonight and tomorrow, they're going to get some vet/shelter advice, post some posters and put the picture on Craigslist.  She's not feral, or emaciated, but there's less evidence than with the first one that she was somebody's. We'll see where the next few days- to weeks, when we'll really find out if she's a Forever Cat- will take them.

For now, I'm going with "Voldemort"- aka "She who must not be named." They did posters and Craigslist/SPCA uploads today, but the key event is Monday morning's vet appointment. If nobody's claimed her by then, they likely won't, and a better name will follow. Hermione, maybe?

She's been almost entirely herself since last night. The only hangover seems to be some soreness in using her hindquarters to go up and down stairs, onto sofas and such, but hey. She basically ran a 5K during that seizure and I'd be sore, too, from that.
