The replacement power supply that I brought home for Eleanor last month re-shat its bed on Friday. It's a nice concept, the Universal Power Supply, but the weak link (literally) is the tip that completes the connection from the transformer to the laptop. Two millimeter-long prongs were all that held the beast in place, and some combination of life forms managed to unprong them, rendering the whole thing powerless once again.
Already knowing that Compaq-specific power supplies couldn't be obtained locally, I Got Me to an Amazonery, and found a perfectly lovely seller who offered one for all of twenty bucks. (The universals retail at places like Worst Buy for well over 100.) I sprung for expedited shipping, which merely meant they'd place it into the post within two days rather than the "standard" five.
In this case, though, they shipped it out the same day, and it arrived, Priority Mail, earlier this afternoon. Eleanor's puter is happily charging as we speak:)
So if you ever run across an outfit called smart-parts.net in your surfing? They get a thumbs-up from this happy household.
