It's rather unfair....

to learn of Neil Gaiman winning a Newberry Medal for The Graveyard Book (and from USA Today, of all things, rather than his own blog)^* on the same day I learned of the death of John Updike.

Compared to the Updike memories I've been seeing all over my Flist including the sports blogs, Neil hasn't received nearly enough props for this accomplishment. Wish him some.

^* Yahwell, turns out Neil did mention it on his blog the other morning, but he buried the Actual Nooz several paragraphs in, and Dumb Guy here managed to miss it.

That's awesome! I have read about this book while keeping up with kid lit for C. I LOVED his telling of that morning on his blog. He must be thrilled!! We will add this to the list, as we are reading all Newberries this year. We just finished A Wrinkle in Time, a favorite of mine.
