*The Juror Commissioner of Doom summoned my wife to appear tomorrow morning- the only day this week (and next, so far) I can't take her. Pfffft.

*From the Department of "I'm here 'till Shabbos, try the gefilte fish:" Twice in the past 24 hours, significantly Orthodox Jews have made me smile, and think, and even laugh on appropriate occasions. One is our own mabfan, whose published collection of short stories arrived in my mailbox earlier this week, and whose touching tributes to his faith, directly and peripherally, have made me do all of those things. The other is Shalom Auslander, whose work Beware of God made me do just as much thinking, and perhaps more smiling and laughing, as This American Life excerpted it as part of its traditional annual Thanksgivingish "Poultry Slam," this year featuring far more tales of the su-poultry-natural.

*It's 7:47. Given the day that we both have ahead of us, I think we're heading to a jumbo jet flight to Dreamland any moment now.
