Happy newses for the day:
* I can has Great Big Sea new album!

It's two days before the start of school. At exactly 6:00:01 last night (i.e., after the last library closed until Tuesday), Em informed me that she needed a book before the first day. Fortunately, it's one I simply adore and was happy to get for her (Jack Finney's Time and Again, which will SOMEDAY come out of development hell and be made into a fine film), so while there, I treated myself to the latest from the boys.
Into the car player it popped- and I was a bit disappointed. Every GBS album I've ever owned began with a kickass piece I instantly liked. Ordinary Day. Sea of No Cares. Shines Right Through Me. Come and I Will Sing You (different, but hey). Even Captain Kidd on the live album- instant lurve. This one starts with more of a cheesy ballad, and I remembered my old rule about never buying ANYBODY's album ear-unheard.
Now, an hour later in the house, it's redeeming itself. There's plenty-a-chanty for the old-schoolers, and an odd thing that sounds like Lou Reed, but I think we'll be okay.

* I alzo can has the new Firefox!
It'd been bugging me for weeks to upgrade, but I'd put it off because of one of my add-ons. I used to have trouble logging into LJ through Firefox because its password sequence didn't get along with Password Manager, so I downloaded the LJLogin widget as a workaround. The update screens made clear that FF3 would kill LJLogin2.0, so I finally got round to checking if the widget had been updated for 3.0 compatibility.
It, too, can has. The download link for LJLogin 2.1 is here, ifn you care.
The new browser? Prettier, a little different in some annoying ways I'll get used to, and best of all it's still not Microsoft!

We have Netflixage for tonight, a lovely day weatherwise tomorrow, and I'm ready for fall.
We now return you to our left-wing kook fringe blogging, which is already in progress....
