Last post about the mystery cache of Catholic checks- promise.

A guy from the school called this morning. Not to thank me (although he did), but for more detail on exactly where I'd found them.  Turns out that he was the guy in charge of totalling up all the tickets and proceeds; he'd left everything I found in his car, where it got smashed-and-grabbed, the thieves taking the cash and dumping the checks and everything else in their wake.

He knew, from the call I'd made, vaguely where I'd found them, went back there himself, and found another pile of them, but nothing green or folding among it.

Between the Mickey D's closest to the intersection and a Tim Horton's on the opposite side of Sweet Home, you'd hope there might be some kind of surveillance camera that might provide a clue to whodunit.  After my being-hit-and-run experience last April, in the shadow of another nearby Timmy Ho's? I tend to doubt it.

At least there might be insurance to cover some of this. As for the perps, they're what Shepherd Book had in mind when he made reference to the "special hell."

I feel bad for the poor guy. How much must that suck? But at least he got some of it back, thanks to you. :)

Definitely in the special hell. Absolutely.

How lucky that an honest soul like you found the rest though?
