You're gonna start seeing the attack dogs on Fox News soon.

About how these "left-wing kook fringe bloggers" are attacking Sarah "The Blessed Virgin Mary" Palin with these sick, twisted rumors that are none of our business anyway about her really being the grandmother of her supposed fifth child.

Yet when it's the National Enquirer dishing dirt on John Edwards, and all the bloggers on the other end of the spectrum picking THAT up? Well, that's just responsible citizen journalism, because the "mainstream media" won't cover it.

Right. The "mainstream media," which includes one network owned by a defense contractor, another owned for years by a cigarette magnate, and hundreds of Clear Channel, Sinclair and Entercom stations who spew right-wing hate all day, and we haven't even gotten to Rupert Murdoch yet.

And oh. You want a story the "mainstream media" refused to cover? Frank Rich mentioned it in his New York Times op-ed today, but even they, even now, wouldn't touch the actual content. You had to follow a link to Salon (surely another of those kook left-wing sites) to see that Mister Family Values, John McCain, told this joke to a gathering of Republicans at a fundraiser at the height of the Lewinsky scandal:

"Why is Chelsea Clinton so ugly?
Because her father is Janet Reno."

So that's the slime at the top of the GOP ticket. One step below, either the most unpregnant pregnant person I've ever seen, or someone with family values even more fucked up than the Clintons.

One simple DNA test would blow this right out of the water. What I'm betting they'll respond with, though, is what Limbaugh always responds with when a caller slips by the screener and asks him about his doctor-shopping for Oxycontin: "I'm not going to dignify that with a response."

That, my friends, is a non-denial denial, and if you think that's any kind of change from how Washington politics have always worked, well,.... You might very well think that. I couldn't possibly comment.

I don't have any doubt that Sarah Palin is a real human with real faults, although I don't think she's the own grandmother of her fifth child, since they don't live in TN, where that sort of thing is more likely to occur.

I've seen a shift in Fox News of late...a try to be more challenging to Conservative candidates, for which I'm glad. I've also seen a switch in CNN, being less obviously left in their coverage. Perhaps we are approaching a day when the news is just the news, and not a commentary.

I saw the posting with pictures and all saying she was the grandmother and her daughter was the mom - however, remember the Jenna Bush prego pics - looked like she had an early one too.
