My day, and welcome to it:
Aug. 28th, 2008 06:58 pm(Or, blogging in paragraphs greater than one sentence. Two, even, on occasion.)
I've been up, more or less, since 4 a.m. Me and the missus both had wicked insomnia around that hour. As each of us got up, rattled around, tried to go back to sleep, the animals kept jumping all about in response to their anticipated feedings- which they finally got, 20 minutes or so early, after I finally gave up on any hope of sleep around 5:40.
I got to my first court appearance over an hour early, and just chilled in hopes that the clerk's office would open early (it didn't), while reading the Rochester edition of News of the Weird. The weirdest?
Among the losers in the recent housing crash was The Shire in Bend, Ore., which was to be a village of 31 homes in the style of those in the “Lord of the Rings” series, with (according to a report in the Bend Bulletin) “unique stonework, artificial thatched roofs, terraces, gardens, and a network of streams and ponds with a pathway to ... ‘The Ring Bearer’s Court.’” One of the only two houses completed has a “hobbit hole” for storing garden supplies. Developer Ron Meyers said he hopes the new owner will respect the concept.
Court, once opened, went well. Filed udda thingza before leaving downtown and headed for the long-awaited meetup with out-of-town client at the Rochester East End outpost of Sp0t Coffee, located in the art deco former Chevy dealership where we bought our first Married Car almost 20 years ago.
Wound up with an unexpected, and potentially very useful, Eastside meeting with a new client who may need a lot of my help and fast. Came home after that, listening to assorted talk radio morons trying to minimize the magnificence of tonight's Obama acceptance speech.
Not that I would ever do such a thing:
Finally got my gorram antivirus to update, which I'd been trying to do since about 4:01 a.m.
Posted this. Fell down. (There, that's still two sentences.)
Thanked all of you who posted jokes and smokes while I was down round about this time 24 hours ago. Love you all.
