I've got a bad feeling about this....
Aug. 20th, 2008 09:46 amWe leave for Tonto in about five hours. That gives us another five hours to clear the bridges and border, sail through northbound traffic on the QEW, settle in to an amazing but cheap parking space, and enjoy the show! which starts at 8.
That's the best-laid plan, anyway. Here come the mousetraps:
(1) Driving around yesterday, I heard a 20-20 sports score. The Yankees were losing to the Blue Jays. I knew the Mets were home, so that probably meant (and did, it turns out) that the NYY-TOR series is being played at theSkydome Rogers Centre whatever they call that big thing with the lid next to the CN Tower. Game Two of that series is tonight. Yankee games are about the only Toronto sporting events which draw any significant number of United Statesians to their games. This is why we're giving ourselves five hours for the trip, which on a good day takes far less than two. Plus those Yuckee fans will be heading home at about the same time we are (we decided against staying over so we wouldn't have to board the dogs). I really don't care who wins, but I think I'll root for extra innings so we'll get a head start on 'em.
(2) At 6:00 this morning, my bank told me I had no money. That would make things like ATM withdrawals and gas purchases a bit of a problem. Fortunately, as of a few moments ago, I was told I actually had some, but I think to be safe, I had better go withdraw some loonies and toonies and twennies to exchange. (Turns out there was a major computer crash at HSBC over the weekend, a fact they conveniently neglected to mention when I gave them the damn deposit earlier in the week.)

If those are the worst of our troubles, we'll have a fine time. Reviews and ootlooks coming tomorrow:)
