Ashes to ashes, mulch to mulch....

captainsblog recognizes its obligation to present spokesmen for opposing viewpoints. In this case, the spokesman arrived at the edge of our front lawn around 6:00 tonight, or roughly 20 minutes after I'd kicked our, and our neighbor's, mostly-dead lawnmowers to the curb in anticipation of tomorrow morning's garbage pickup.
Said spokesman, for scavengers-r-us.com, was making his usual night-before run through the neighborhood in search of unappreciated antiques, raw amounts of metal, or in this case, an abundance of parts which exceeded the sum of the respective wholes.
Eleanor was out in the garden when he came to claim our trash as his treasure. He has a friend who picks from such carcasses for mower parts, he explained.
Bless him. And bless the lawns that will soon be mowed by the former sweat of our former brows.
