Bama Bama Obama Banana Fanna Fobama....
Mar. 20th, 2008 09:08 pmIf somebody had told me a year ago that the crucial issue in the '08 campaign would be what the leading liberal Democratic candidate did, or did not, hear in church?!? I would've suggested a brainscan, followed by num nums and a nap.
Nobody seemed particularly scared by the exteme religious views of the spiritual advisors of the Bush crowd eight years ago, even though, rather than disaffirming them, he sucked up to them then and continues to do so now.
It's not what you say, much less hear, in church on Sunday that determines the direction of your faith or the content of your character. It's what you do with the other 167 hours of the week that matters.
Yeah, this Wright guy scares and disturbs me. So do the parades of Revs in other cities, including this one, who only seem to prefer a "rush to judgment" when the color of the alleged criminal's skin differs from their own.
But Obama has repudiated the guy's influence, just as McCain has repudiated the allegations of far darker (or lighter, I suppose) influence by a lobbyist on his own political views. I take them both at their word. For now.
