Not eighteen hours after posting about them, we got our first robo-calls, but not about the presidential race.

No, these came in a bit before 6 a.m., from a new robo-system just put in place by the school district to announce closings and other emergencies.

News of the closing came as no surprise, since we'd each been awakened many times during the night by the 60 mph winds that blew in here sometime after midnight and have continued gusting ever since.

The temperature dropped from 53F just after midnight to 19 by 8 a.m.  Not a lot of snow is falling, but what little there is, is blowing in an infinite number of directions. We haven't lost power ::moves away from the jinx:: but there's a pine tree in one of the yards across the street that's a lot more horizontal than it was last night.

This, of course, would be the day designated for me to hit the Thruway again, for an appointment which I could have easily rescheduled for yesterday. You know, when it was 53 degrees and all.

If a house falls on me, somebody be sure to tell my sister.

I hope it gets better tomorrow around here.

It seems better already. The bricks on the outside of the house aren't shaking like they were when I woke up.

The out-of-town appointment canceled right before I was scheduled to leave, and good thing, too, since the Thruway was shut down most of this afternoon from Transit Road to I-390 on account of ice and snow-covered roads.
