War on Christmas Update: Baby Jesus Mounted a Counter-attack!

Things in the Southern Tier of Western New York can get a little Deliverance-like at times, and what better thing to bring it out than the birth of Our Lord?  The Mayor of Olean gave permission for display of a nativity scene on city property, but also approved equal time for other comers, which resulted in the planting of a Wiccan pentacle next to the shepherds, the angels and the holy 40-watt light bulb.

But not for long:

The continuing battle over a nativity scene at the Olean Municipal Building took another twist Monday night, when someone ran over a 5-foot-tall Wiccan pentacle set up next to the nativity scene.

City officials confirmed that someone ran over the pentacle at about 10:15 p.m. Monday, and police are investigating the act of vandalism as a hate crime.

Witnesses told police that someone was seen fleeing the scene in what was believed to be a dark-colored pickup truck.

Thus the raging battle goes on, which had culiminated earlier this month in this divine-intervening post from a spokesdeity for reasonableness among religions:

Wow...someone ran over the pentacle. I'd look for the truck with the five-pointed star impression in its hood.
