So there's only one thing to do about it:

"Road trip."

The genesis of this voyage has kicked around for a few months.  Back in March, I scored a pair of tenth-row field box seats behind Fenway Pahk's first base dugout for an August 18 Red Sox game.  The only way to do this without a lifetime of indentured servitude was to make it a Pawtucket Red Sox game, against our Met-affiliated Buffalo Bisons.  The Fenway folk have been doing this for a while, devoting a Big Kid off-day to a minor-league doubleheader featuring Bosox farm teams.

When I dropped all of $20 a seat on this event, I knew it might be a Bucknerly error of a waste of money if I couldn't afford the surrounding weekend trip, but last week's sudden good fortune (arising, appropriately, from a client based in Milford, MA:) made it possible for me to commit to the journey.  I checked, and found the Mets are home the following Monday, and a friend is seeking out tickets for that night.  I've invited my best friend from college, who lives neah the Hub, to join me at the Fenway Futures game. So that leaves the Sunday of that weekend, and, what's a guy to do?

Run his ass off, apparently.

----

Last week, the couch-to-5K thing broke through the cushions of the former and into a reasonable range of the latter.  For the first time, I was able to crank out full five-minute intervals in the breeze, and the heat, and get home without panting or cutting the "start running" intervals.  This morning, I added the first six-minute-straight runs to it, and I'm one just one session beyond the halfway point (despite actually entering, and finishing, an actual one three weekends ago in sucky  but still passable time).

It was enough to speculate on what I might set as a goal for the next entry.  One was too early, one was too late, but this one looks jussst riiiiiight:

Now I know there are certain dangers associated with the course; mainly on account of now reading the latest mystery novel by my fellow high school alum Clea Simon, who has created a Cambridge which has a higher per capita murder rate than even Jessica Fletcher's Crabapple Cove, Maine. I also worry about how receptive the Connecticut State Police would be to me heading to my niece's after the post-race party later that afternoon, even though her husband is one of them.

Assuming we can work that-all out, that still leaves lots of time in the 0-ish zip codes on Sunday the 19th of August, and the 10xxx and 11xxx postal areas on that Monday before the August 20th Mets-Rockies game, for any of you who want to meet, eat, drink or just chill for a moment or two in this annual transit out of our usual haunts.

For those of you connected to me in Zuckland, I'll create an event. Anyone else, just comment.

I'm guessing you probably don't want to try beer from a dozen different "local" (Brooklyn??) breweries the night before your run?

Anyway, I'll keep an eye on the book of face, I live nearby as you may know.

OMG, that's our neck of the woods! I might have a concert that weekend but otherwise we'll be here. The starting point is WALKING DISTANCE from our house. Like 4 or 5 blocks. Need a place to crash or someone to do dinner with? Just let us know.

I love that race where every kilometer, they make you drink a pink or shot in between. You CAN have water along the route, but it's HILARIOUS!!
