Batman and Batsmen
Jul. 6th, 2012 09:02 pmLast night was totally escapist, frabjous television. Somehow, we just managed to discover the local outlet of MeTV, which runs classic 60s shows. Two back-to-back Batman episodes with the Joker, then an early Get Smart! featuring the Craw ("Not Craw! CRAW!") and plenty of 60s Watusi-ing and innuendo-ing.
I checked out earlier than Eleanor, only to find the final inning of the Mets-Phillies game on yahoo.com on my laptop- us down a run, but with former Red Sox closer Jonathan Papelbomb on the mound, which always gives opposing batters some hope. Sure enough, the Mets survived at least two final-strike pitches and wound up winning the thing- just in time to suck tonight against a far inferior Cubs team:P
The week ended quietly, workwise, but with a sudden flurry of emails after 4 p.m. which will get pushed into a likely busy week next week. The day started with a potentially Very Good Phone Call, and went on to include a totally snarky letter by me to a new opponent.
I gave up on my Norwegian novel-read, and moved on to a Booker prizer winning author who seems more promising.
It's Hotter than July here, and our back lawn is so brown, I think I see Nathan Fillion running around out there trying to make it into a coat. But they promise a cold front tomorrow and some rain and cooler for early next week, so we've got that going for us, which is nice.
