Just a Coupla Quick Hits....

* Did someone send the Internet out to be cleaned or something? My Gmail doesn't display on the main Google page (although the notifier in the tray seems to work), and Netflix has been down all day.

* As some have found through comments, I've moved off the iPurchase- probably for good. Between counting the cost and hearing about the hacks that have already occurred, it seems to be too much of a not-all-that-good thing right now. I'm going to check into an 8800, which Cingular also offers, for way less up front moolah, once I find out what the data expense would be.

* No far-flung travel for me this week, anyway. I had two hearings, 24 hours and about 300 miles apart, between Thursday and Friday mornings, with the chance to detour after the first one for a Day In Da Big City all the way into late Thursday night. Client wants me to go to the second, closer one, but not the first. Much as I would've loved to try catching up with long-lost Friends from there? I really don't mind not making the trip right now. I have a long history of getting caught in really bad late-summer thunderstorms, usually on winding roads in or out of Ithaca which look awfully Deliverance-like once you get past the shoulder.

* Why is it I have a Flist full of smart, independent and mostly confident female friends, but the rest of our culture seems totally bereft of them?  For evidence, I offer Exhibits

A  (Hilary Duff acting more her last name than I'd care to see);

B (Redbook proving there's nobody good-looking enough to make their cover without airbrushing); and

C (Lindsay Lohan continuing her Stupids duel with Paris Hilton).

Gag me with a People magazine. To-tally

I could be confident, or I could simply have given up. Sometimes I'm not sure which, but I got tired of buying into the youth culture. On the other hand, as we used to say, as friends of Bill W, act as if. So if I act confident (instead of simply tired of the morning and evening goo fest on my face and push up bras and tummy and tushy flatteners) then maybe it will eventually turn into confidence:)

I wrote this straight faced, no irony intended, totally forgetting that one of four purchases made at Walmart today was hair dye to cover the gray. I haven't totally given up, it seems.
