No posts yesterday, either here or in the beisbol blog, an unusual circumstance of late for me but meh. Some days you have it, some days you don't.  Monday had been a longish one, largely out of town with a lot of tidying around the old office, and yesterday, while not as busy, still kept me running in and out of here for various things until ending with two of my favorite chores: aquarium cleaning and plumbing.

So by the time 9:00 rolled around, I was already fixing to roll over, and with no entries to check for comments and little if any commenting by myself during the day, I almost shut the puppy down to do just that before remembering to check my favorite other Met blog. This one's by two guys a little younger than me- one who has a day job at the Wall Street Journal, the other a freelancer and contributor to many sports-related media, and it's been written up in the WSJ itself as a story-about-the-story of the blogging phenomenon.

What I found there made my night and retrospectively my day.  The entry was a wrapup of new Met-related journals they'd added to their sidebar; no props in that for me, since they added mine several months ago. Nonetheless, I came to the end of it and found this, right after a shoutout to one of their 20-year-old commenters:

At the other end of the age/experience spectrum, there is veteran Mets fan Ray, whose Metphistopheles is one of my favorites. Marooned in Buffalo (belated condolences on the Sabres), Ray keeps digging deep into his bag of Met tricks and comes up with some great stuff, particularly the peek last week at his report card from the 1969-70 academic year. Read what Miss Boehler put on his Permanent Record while the Mets were winning their first World Series. You'll earn a demerit for laughing out loud in class, but it'll be worth it.

Nothing does a writer better than feeling a connection with a reader. And so in my own mind I'm coming back to an idea I had some time ago but never acted on- a weeklyish feature on this site, probably in an open post (as opposed to the friends-only I've defaulted my console settings to), to inform the Flist and any other readers of particularly good friendswriting I've got going on here.

There are only two real criteria for this. One, you've got to have at least some of your entries public. And two, I want to be sure I'm not embarrassing or offending anyone by featuring them, so let me know if this is a "thanks, but I'd rather not" thing for you.

I kinda already have my first victim honoree picked out in my head, so no primping or styling will be needed.
