Belts and Hosings
Mar. 26th, 2012 09:01 pmThe whole brake line system of Eleanor's truck needed to be replaced. Quite a bit more than I hoped for, but it's done. I also took the tour of the undercarriage; the worst is likely over, since the biggies have all been replaced within the past year (brake lines, the brakes themselves, and the exhaust system, along with a couple of other diddlybits), and other than the spare tire that rests below the bed and will likely never be pried off without ruining tire, bed or both, there's little left under there to go wrong.
Easing the pain a bit was getting two things in the post today. One, Deanna Witkowski's 2003 album Wide Open Window, part of our thank you for helping to Rocketfuel her upcoming Chopin effort. Here's the title track played at a little DC dive called the Kennedy Center:
The second was my pair of tickets to see the Buffalo Bisons play the Red Sox- the AAA Pawtucket version- at Fenway Pahk on a Saturday in August. Seats seven rows from the first base line, sold for $20 a pop. Le view:

If we can't pull off the actual trip there, I'm sure I'll be able to Stubhub them for at least what I paid, but to sit in those seats in the 100th anniversary season of that historic ballpark? Sweet Caroline, I'll do anything to make it happen.

I love minor league ball. I have often enjoyed a Kingsport Mets game. I saw Darryl Strawberry play there before he went to the majors...and went batshit crazy.
