Takin' care of business
Feb. 18th, 2012 06:44 pmA day that began badly, being awakened by the booda-BIP of a spam text at 5 a.m., got mostly better as it went along. Among other things:
* My text for tomorrow's final Advanced Lay Speaking class is done. After presenting previous sermons on Star Trek, Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy (among other spacey references) and Hyperbole and a Half (damn I miss her!), it was only natural that I'd find another pop-culture hook for this exercise. And so, I will be discussing the disciples' cluelessness in the 10th chapter of the Gospel of Mark in a message to be eternally titled, "The Twelve Stooges."
* I have, seemingly permanently, lost my glasses. Fortunately, I now have at least some vision coverage for the first time in at least two years, and an appointment to replace the beasts next week, so I'm not constantly having to pull them off my face 20 times a day when I'm reading. And oddly enough, my penultimate-or-earlier pair, not even bifocals, seem to be working just fine for distance until I make it to Tuesday afternoon.
* Did get to the gym after all of that, and once there finished my 7th read of the young season, a not especially good one by an author better known for other things. But hey, it was moderately entertaining. This new business in the gym plaza, replacing the fairly short-lived Chinese place called Chopsticks? Less so:

I just hope they don't wind up merging with the gym. Then we'd have the 20 minute express wok-out; they'd serve set-zuan chicken; and calf-raised shrimp; and the one I'll totally avoid: moo goo gai plank.
Thanks. I'm here all week.
