Eleanor went back to work last Wednesday. First thing they did in the door was offer her both a flu shot and a COVID booster, both of which she took....

and spent much of the next two days in bed, or on various sofas.

Armed (heh) with this information, I resolved to do them on separate days. Wegmans flu shots are walk-in, so I walked in at the end of the day on Monday and got that annual owie.  By Tuesday night, I  noticed that the jab site on my left arm was itching. But so was my other arm, halfway down to my right wrist.

Huh. I can't remember ever having an allergic reaction to an innoculation before.  Probably still haven't, though, because I then remembered I'd done something else:

Remember the dreaded kitchen cabinets that came down from the cellar wall a few weeks ago?

(There were three that eventually went to the curb, all of which got grabbed by the scrap metal scavangers before garbage day.)

One of the contents of those cabinets that stayed behind was a large jug of Era detergent, which we stopped using years ago after they changed some ingredient in it and Eleanor began breaking out in a rash.  My best guess is that whatever the irritant was, it got more irritating over time and I've now broken out from it as well.  So I'm going back to the Dreft-like detergent we've been using ever since, and we'll save this goop for cleaning paintbrushes and whatnot.

Next, I moved on to get the Boost.

Scheduling a COVID booster is not as tricky as the bad old days of the early spring,  where you had to wait weeks and potentially drive hundreds of miles for your initial vaccinations. On the other hand, neither is it one of those lazy hazy crazy days of summer 2021 where you could just walk in anywhere.

After quite a bit of mucking about online last night and again this morning, I got mine booked for next Wednesday at UB, and the state site's pretty good. Wegmans, my first choice, timed me out of two appointments tomorrow in Rochester and now they have nothing anywhere in the 14*** for a week (which is as far as it will let you check).  Walgreens at least tells you quickly that it's got nuthin. The CVS site was designed by the Marquis deSade. I've heard that Walmarts have openings, but, erm no...

It'll be late morning, and that's the day before we're closed for two days, so that should work well in case of any reaction.  Eleanor is also off that day and the two following.  No big plans for the Thursday or Friday, although who knows what might wind up out at the curb;)
