I mentioned the other day that, among my assorted tetch-knuckle fails of the past week, I had trouble all over with a virtual Geeks Who Drink quiz Friday night themed on Schitt's Creek. Forgot to mention the outcome of that: we finished 57th in the national competition. Not sure how many that included; there were over 60 in the gallery, but some, like us, were logging in from different places.

Not sure, but I think we won a town in Canada. Which one, also unsure: I think 60th place grabbed Medicine Hat.  Finally, we have no idea how we're going to sneak it over the Peace Bridge with the border closed. We may just have to airlift these four over and make do from there for now:

One more week in my latest Learned League round. I'm currently sitting in 6th place out of 26 in my group, with a record of 11-7-2.  That means I need only one win or tie in the final five to finish the round at or above .500, which is always my goal going in.  It also means I am in striking distance of fourth place and play one of the two immediately ahead of me in the final matches. The "prize" for finishing in fourth or above is being promoted out of one's current group into a much more competitive one a level above-  I only rose to the next group once, sucked in it, and got relegated right back to the level I apparently belong in.

No prizes for any of this- not even obscure obscene-named Canadian towns or cute costumes.

Eleanor continued the Home Repair Clinic today; after ripping out an ancient swinging door to a never-used laundry chute, she moved on to blow up a row of bathroom tile and a hideous 60s towel bar/cupholder ensemble built into it. The plan is to retile over it all, replace the medicine chest, and expand the bathroom sink counter.  I was much more able to assist in this earlier phase because it involved destroying rather than creating. Heh heh.  She was also using a small handheld power tool that overheated in its first use since I got it for her in September of 2019. That date's significant, because the thing has a two-year warranty, and,  bless me, I found the dated receipt for it.

In creative things more up my alleys, my musician friend has posted a save-the-summer link for her online songwriting course, which will be "at" a local community college. And I may have talked my way into an online writing group, solely on the strength of my "fetish ornament" remark from the other day. Its other recent prompts included

I think I have found my people.
