And none of them are good:P

* Air. That would be what's been leaking from my right rear tire for the past couple of weeks.  It was a slow leak until it wasn't: four quarters for air last weekend kept me going all week, until Friday, when the damn sensor went off again. This time, I got two days out of the topoff, and the PSI back there registered damn close to 10 (it should be mid 30s) when I brought it in for a Real Fix.  Not sure if this will be a repair, or replacing both rear tires; I need all four, but can't do the full job today, with estimated taxes due tomorrow and the renovation continuing to cost.  I've been here since 2 when they scheduled me for, and they've yet to move the car out of the spot I parked it in. But I've got wifi, Mountain Stage and stuff to work on, which is cool, except for....

* Water. It's been pouring since I got here. And long before that, the rain was hanging miserably in the air, as the Festival of Humidity is well under way.  Even simple chores like folding wash and vacuuming floors were turning me into a sweat-soaked montrosity.  But that's still better than....

* Fire.  No real ones- the reference here is more to electricity. The cooktop is out of the box and is in the counter. Connecting it, though? Not happening.  Connections are too many and too old on the house side, and Eleanor has wisely begged out.  I have a client who can probably do it sometime this week. Until then, it's burgers on the grill tonight (assuming we haven't upended the lid to use as an ark), and we'll manage a few more nights after that if we have to.

And that's all I've got for now, trying, as I always do, to keep these entries down to

* Earth;)

3:45- Patty Griffin's the final Mountain Stage act. They just got my car in, and the phone's near death.

I tried linking to this on Facebook at 5-ish in the morning, but the link didn't preview for some damn reason and this story deserves another chance.  I've been on the Great Big Sea mailing list since first seeing them here some years ago, and this came through the other day about one of the band members' side projects:

 Bob Hallett Helping Launch New Broadway Musical

For the past few months Bob has been working behind the scenes to help launch a major new musical. Written by Toronto based playwrights & composers David Hein & Irene Sankoff, and directed by Christopher Ashley, Come From Away is an original, rock-inspired world-premiere musical based on the true story of when the isolated town of Gander, Newfoundland played host to the world.

What started as an average day in a small town turned in to an international sleepover when 38 planes were diverted to Gander on September 11, 2001. Undaunted by culture clashes and language barriers, the spirited town cheered the stranded travelers with music, an open bar and the recognition that we’re all part of a global family.The writers enlisted Bob’s help as a music consultant in order to ensure that the play’s music has an authentic base in traditional Newfoundland music.

Currently in preview at the LaJolla Theatre in LaJolla, California, Bob has been on the scene helping the producers fine-tune the music as it ends its final previews. In the coming months the play will open at the Seattle Repertory theatre, and then head to New York City for its Broadway debut.

What an awesome idea:) For all the horrific images of that day- I still shudder at them, despite the distance from the site and not having known any of the lost- it is so good to celebrate perhaps the only silver lining in the whole global experience of that day.  And I'm sure Bob will lend the needed authenticity; the boys have worked their way into popular culture before this, getting several of their early songs into the 2001 movie The Shipping News, also set in Newfoundland, by basically going guerrilla on the producers and blasting their music around the set.

It's going on two years since we last saw them- Sean McCann left the band not long after that, and Wikipedia says they're now on hiatus- so this may be our last and best chance for a good GBS fix:)
