It's outta here.
Got a little crazy round here yesterday afternoon between 2 and about 3:30. Eleanor got home from work, and I returned from rounds, at about 2, with plenty to be done. She was already finishing the cradle to hold the old, impossibly heavy sink; then the plumber called and asked to come early.
Erm, no. We finally discovered the old sink was basically being held up by one corner clip, itself no longer screwed into anything, and we'd just gently removed that and even more gently lowered it, successfully, onto the platform. Now the old countertop could come out. I requested the sledgehammer for this one; it was fun. Heh heh.
All that remained was to gently slide the new one above the counters where it would fit perfectly to the pre-ordered size. Or not. Turns out we'd missed a few nails still in the plaster or going down into the edges of the counters. Bam bam bam. Still no good. It's probably relevant that it's a ton more humid this week than it was when we measured, so we chiseled. Eleanor sanded. And finally, just before the plumber got here (and a client- oh, did I mention I had one who could only see me this week at that exact moment AND was trying to GPS herself to the street with our name located in Tonawanda?), the final push worked. It's in.
Moments later, the truck arrived. I wasn't here for the actual removal, but he got the old sink out; I'm told it wasn't easy for even him:
(We're keeping it; the kids have asked for it to go into the house they're dreaming of building.)
He then reattached the faucet and drain bottoms to the new one, and it slid into its prefabricated hold without any chiseling, drilling or bribing:
It's still not connected- and there's still the minor matter of placing and connecting the new cooktop:
But it looks beautiful. The cats sat around it last night in muted wonder; it doesn't make rain but it LOOKS like that thing that did and why isn't the cat fud can in there, Daddy?
Earlier, Eleanor came home from her last temporary-assignment day at the Wegmans on (I am not making this up) Dick Road. She felt a need for some levity, and she got it:
About the cost of the wine we might have once done, and far more long-lasting!
I was asked to provide sound. OF THE GUN:
I can only imagine how it's going to go around here when we start playing with the electricity;)
