It's often claimed that those damned libtards in this country are indoctrinating children in our schools and colleges to be a bunch of namby-pamby tolerant wusses- you know, wusses like me:)

I don't think it's working, Comrades.

We saw it a few years ago at Penn State, after a pedophile on the football staff got away with his crime- repeatedly- and everybody from the beloved Coach For Life to the University president ultimately lost their jobs after the cover-up failed to cover enough up.  Back then, angry students took to the streets of Not-So-Happy Valley to protest- not the crime, but the sacking of the coach.  It was ugly and shameful. Then, after the NCAA retroactively reduced some of the punishments a few weeks ago, the current generation of Penn State students rejoiced on social media- and upon hearing their end of a call-and-response tweet, apparently about the restoration of Paterno's records with a cry of WE ARE!...., Keith Olbermann replied on his Twitter account just as I would have done in that context:

ESPN took him off the air for a week for that reaction.

Now, we're seeing a similar reaction from the younguns at even a younger level. There's a nearby school district which, like the NFL team, has been receiving opposition to continuing to refer to its sports teams as the "Redskins." The same debate over whether it's racist or honorable carried on here for months. Then, with the start of lacrosse season, some high schools with larger Native American populations announced they would be boycotting their games in that sport. Earlier this week, the school board voted to change the name and mascot- and the right wing went nuts. First Amendment defenses were offered; "Bullshit PC reaction over just a name" was the refrain. Some parents threatened to vote the board members out of office, and even to vote down the school budget this spring, over this supposed offense to their offensiveness. And today, there were the proud students of Lancaster High School, marching and chanting REDSKIN PRIDE in an attempt to preserve the tradition of a name once used in the context of American politicians advertising for native scalps to be purchased for cash like pelts.

This is the generation that will be running the country in my old age.  It worries me.
